Why shopping local in Garwood is so important

Clarissa Nolde and Jeff Jotz, Garwood Council Candidates

As we prepare to launch our campaign for the Garwood Borough Council officially, we wanted to take a moment to discuss why “shopping local” is so important.  Supporting local businesses keeps more money circulating within our local economy, boosting our tax base and creating jobs right here in Garwood.  These local businesses also give back to our community through participation in our town’s volunteer rewards card program along with countless team and committee sponsorships.  Now, more than ever, our local businesses need our business for their and our own continued economic health.

With this in mind, we are proud to report that the outstanding portraits featured on the http://www.dems4garwood.com/ website and our campaign literature were taken by Pete Collura, owner of Peter Collura Photography on Center Street.  We are also thrilled to host our official “campaign kickoff” on Friday, August 27th, from 6 to 9 pm at the Garwood Lanes on North Avenue (please join us)!

We also pledge to source events, materials, and everything else we can get here in Garwood whenever possible because we, like Mayor Sara Todisco, the current Council, and the Garwood Democrats, understand the unique challenges faced by so many small businesses due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and want to do everything possible to ensure their continued success.

Be on the lookout for our fellow Garwood Democrats and us to continue to put our money and support behind our local businesses, and we hope the entire community joins us in this effort!
